As most of you know, I got my license a little over a month ago. You know, we're humans, we make mistakes. a couple of weeks ago I got into a little accident. nothing too major and it didn't involve anybody else. But I did kind of hit the car. Of course I had to tell my dad. I love him too much to lie, but I was too scared to say anything. I knew that as soon as I told him about what happened that I would never drive again. ever. yes, my parents got upset, but you know what my dad told me the next day? That he loves me. That he trust me. He confides in me and that he wasn't going to take away my license, but he was going to let me drive to church. I was in awe. Why dad? Why would you let me drive again? And it was then, on June 2nd, that I understood the following scriptures:
Lamentations 3:22-23
22 Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
for His compassions never fail.
23 They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
My dad was showing me a taste of the mercy that God gives. woah woah woah. If my dad can extend this act of mercy on something I consider to be a big deal...How much MORE does God love me and extend His mercy on even bigger mistakes that I make?!?! I'm so grateful for my dad because He has taught and is teaching me who God is. Not by forcing me to believe in God, but by my dad's actions. And that is one of the greatest lessons I have learned and will always carry with me. A true leader doesn't boss people around, they grab the front of the rope and show the workers how to pull it.
Dad, I love you.
